Dance Sweep: May 28, 2016...


We've come to the end of my five-part 'music sweeps' for today, checking out the notable songs making their way on to the charts in Billboard magazine, and I'll wrap things up with the latest dance jams in the clubs and on the radio...

On the DJ-polled Dance Club Play chart, Sheila Gordhan scores her first #1 hit with "Smile"...

As Calvin Harris recovers from his recent car accident, his new single, "This Is What You Came For" featuring Rihanna, leaps on to the chart at #34, as it's already at #2 on the airplay list in only its third week. Grade: C

tyDi, aka Australian DJ Tyson Illingsworth from the suburbs of Brisbane, comes in at #48 with "Only" featuring singer Olivia Somerlyn. Grade: B-



Nick Martin and singer Lauren Bennett (who was a featured credited vocalist on the #1 single "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO) pair up at #49 with "Reality". Grade: C-


Meanwhile, on the radio-monitored Dance Airplay/Mixshow chart, the Chainsmokers return to #1 for a fourth non-consecutive week with "Don't Let Me Down"...

Rain Man, aka Kris Trindl, a former member of the dance act Krewella, reappears at #34 with "Bring Back The Summer" featuring OLY. Grade: C


Italian remixer and producer Benny Benassi sails in at #35 with "Paradise" featuring Chris Brown. The track already has made the British top-40. Grade: C+


French DJ Cedric Gervais, who is most known in the States for remixing a couple of Lana Del Rey tracks, recruits Jack Wilby at #36 for "With You", my "Dance Pick of the Week". Grade: B-


Progressive house vet Kaskade returns at #38 with "Us" featuring CID. Grade: C+


Rapper Desiigner takes his former #1 pop hit "Panda" to this chart at #39.
