Rock Sweep: February 20, 2016...


Round two of this week's "music sweeps" is up, checking out the songs reaching the charts in Billboard magazine, and this time up I've got the latest on rock radio...

On their main Rock Airplay chart, Cage The Elephant jump to #1 for the second time in their career with "Mess Around". They also did the trick with "Come A Little Closer"...

Indie folk group the Lumineers return at #39 with "Ophelia", the first single from their upcoming sophmore release Cleopatra. In 2013 they had back-to-back top-5 hits with "Ho Hey" and "Stubborn Love"...

British metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon take their "Happy Song" to the big rock chart at #40. The track is up to #14 on the Mainstream Rock chart...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the harder-edged Mainstream Rock radio panel,  Shinedown are on top for a third week with "State Of My Head"...

Metalhead Rob Zombie returns at #32 with "Well, Everybody's F**king in a UFO". He was last seen with his cover of "We're An American Band" which climbed to #8 in 2013...


The second single from Devour The Day's upcoming S.O.A.R. album, "Lightning In The Sky" crashes in at #38. It follows "Faith", which peaked at #15...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Coldplay move to #1 with "Adventure Of A Lifetime". It's now their third #1 after "Viva La Vida" and "Paradise"...

British indie-rock artist Declan McKenna gets his first chart hit at #35 with "Brazil", my "Rock Pick of the Week"...


Brooklyn-based indie-pop group Lucius pops in at #39 with "Born Again Teen", a former "Rock Pick" from January...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult Album alternative, or "hipster rock") format,  Coldplay's "Adventure Of A Lifetime" moves back to #1 for a sixth non-consecutive week...

Alternative rock musician Pete Yorn is in at #24 with "Lost Weekend". Back in 2009 he made it to #9 on this chart with "Don't Wanna Cry"...


Florence + The Machine move in at #28 with "Delilah". It follows their #1 hit "Ship To Wreck"...
