Rock Sweep: February 13, 2016...

Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, checking out the songs reaching the charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I'm rolling out the latest on rock radio...

On their main Rock Airplay chart, the Cold War Kids return to #1 for a tenth non-consecutive week with "First"...

Danish rock band Lukas Graham, named for its lead singer, jumps in at #42 with "7 Years", which just may be the first breakout hit of the year...

Australian indie-dance duo Empire of the Sun revive their 2008 single "Walking On A Dream" courtesy of the Honda Civic ad and drives in at #45. It's my "Rock Pick of the Week"...

Last week's "Rock Pick", the Disturbed's cover of the Simon & Garfunkel classic "The Sound Of Silence", makes the big rock chart at #50...

And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the harder-edged Mainstream Rock radio panel, Shinedown hold on top for a second week with "State Of My Head"...

The title track to speed-metal vets Megadeth's Dystopia album chimes in at #37...

Australian hard rock outfit Wolfmother howls in at #40 with "Victorious". Back in 2006 they scaled to #7 with "Woman"...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Cage The Elephant place their sixth song atop the list with "Mess Around", while the aforementioned Empire of the Sun track is in at #36 and Lukas Graham debuts at #38...

Indie-pop/rock group Joywave come in at #39 with "Destruction". It's the fourth single from their How Do You Feel Now album; "Somebody New" went to #15...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, "Mess Around" rules for a second week...

Singer/songwriter Ray Lamontagne is back at #19 with "Hey No Pressure". He topped this chart back in 2010 with "Beg Steal Or Borrow"...

L.A. rockers the Record Company jumps in at #23 with "Off The Ground"...

I'll return with the latest on R&B radio...
