Soul Sweep: January 23, 2016...

We're at the "hump" of today's "music sweeps", sampling the songs making their debut on the charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out, I'm serving up the latest hits on R&B radio...

On the main R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart Drake hangs in on top for a fourteenth week with "Hotline Bling"...

Johnny Gill gathers his former New Edition bandmates at #41 for "This One's For Me And You". The song moves up to #12 on the Adult R&B chart, where it was my "soul pick" several weeks back...

North Carolina newcomer DJ Luke Nasty arrives at #43 with "Might Be"...

Kanye West slips in at #50 with his latest, "Facts", his "diss" track over Nike...

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B radio panel, Tyrese is at #1 for a twelfth non-consecutive week with "Shame"...

90s soul hitmaker Keith Sweat returns at #26 with the ultra-smooth "Good Love", my "Soul Pick of the Week"...

Lastly, on the Rhythmic format, whose stations add more dance-pop music to their playlists, Justin Bieber climbs to the top with "Sorry". It's his second #1 on this list - he did it in 2012 with "As Long As You Love Me"...

Rapper Ty Dolla $ign arrives at #36 with "Saved" featuring E-40. Two years ago he made it to #6 with "Paranoid"...

Kid Ink drops in at #37 with "Promise" with Fetty Wap, the first single from his Christmas day release Summer In The Winter. In 2014 he topped this chart with "Show Me"...

I'll be back with the latest on country radio...
