Rock Sweep: February 6, 2016...


Round two of this week's "music sweeps" has the latest hits on rock radio as monitored by Billboard magazine...

On their main Rock Airplay chart twenty-one pilots are on top for a fifth week with "Stressed Out"...

Hard rock hitmakers 3 Doors Down return for the first time in three years with "In The Dark" at #42. It's the first single from their upcoming sixth studio album Us and The Night...

Singer/songwriter Kurt Vile, from nearby Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, enters at #49 with "Pretty Pimpin'", which is already in the top 10 on the Triple-A radio chart...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the harder-edged Mainstream Rock radio panel, hard rock band Shinedown score their tenth #1 hit with "State Of My Head", while the aforementioned 3 Doors Down track rockets in at #18 (they've sent five singles to the top of this chart)...

Disturbed take their cover of the Simon & Garfunkel classic "The Sound Of Silence" to the list at #36 as the third single from their Immortalized album, and my "Rock Pick of the Week". The first two, "The Vengeful One" and "The Light", both went all the way to #1...


Former Flyleaf lead singer Lacey Sturm flies in at #40 with "Impossible". It's her first solo radio hit...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,  "Stressed Out" remains on top for a twelfth week...

Florence + The Machine are at #38 with "Delilah", the third American radio single from their How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful album. The first, "What Kind Of Man", went to #8 on this chart...


British singer/songwriter James Bay sails in at #39 with "Let It Go". The Grammy nominee went to #9 with his breakthrough single "Hold Back The River"...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Cage The Elephant climb to #1 for the second time with "Mess Around"...

Blues-rock legend Bonnie Raitt is back at #25 with "Gypsy In Me" from her upcoming 17th studio album Dig In Deep. "Right Down The Line" from her last record went to #17 on this chart in 2012...


Danish indie-pop band Lukas Graham settles in at #30 with "7 Years", a former "Pop pick of the Week"...
