Rock Sweep: November 14, 2015...


Round two of this week's 'music sweeps' is up, checking out the songs making the charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out I've got the latest on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, the Cold War Kids finally displaced the 18-week reign of the X Ambassadors on top with "First", and hold on this week as well...

"Dork-rock" kings Weezer claim the highest new entry of the week all the way up at #15 with their brand new single, "Thank God For Girls"...

Kentucky alt-rock band Cage The Elephant preview their upcoming Tell Me I'm Pretty album with the song at #27, "Mess Around"...


British singer/songwriter Adele crosses over to this list at #30 (up from #50) with her Hot 100 #1 hit "Hello"...


Irish indie rockers the 1975 get a little funky moving from #44 to #38 with "Love Me", my "Rock Pick of the Week"...


As X Ambassadors' "Renegades" finally falls from #1 last week, their new single "Unsteady" climbed in at #46 last week, and is up to #44...


Panic! At The Disco also climb a couple notches to #46 with "Victorious"...


(Last week Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness popped in at #49 for a week with "High Dive"...)


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, last week Breaking Benjamin scored their fourth #1 hit with "Angels Fall", which sticks around this week...

Shinedown follow up their former #1 hit "Cut The Cord" with "State Of My Head", which leaps from #31 to #19 this week...


This week's top debut at #31 is Highly Suspect from Cape Cod, Massachussettts with "Bloodfeather". Their debut single "Lydia" climbed to #4 on this chart earlier this year...


British alt-metal band Turbowolf prowls from #38 to #33 with their first charting hit "Rabbits Foot"...


Veteran metalcore band Atreyu return with "Do You Know Who You Are", which moves from #40 to #35. In 2008 they made it to #3 with "Falling Down"...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the Cold War Kids are on top for a seventh week, while the Weezer and Cage The Elephant tracks come in at #20 and #23 respectively, and "Love Me" from the 1975 moves from #33 to #25...

The top-10 Triple-A hit "Return To The Moon" from EL VY dips from #36 to #38 this week on this list (though gaining in airplay)...


Liverpool indie-rockers the Wombats move up a notch to #39 in their second week with the second single from their Glitterbug album, "Give Me A Try". The first, "Greek Tragedy", went to #32...


Newcomers Grizfolk land their first rock radio hit at #40 with "Troublemaker"...


(Last week Dreamers snuck in for a week at #39 with "Wolves (You Got Me)"...)


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format,  Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats are at #1 for a fourth week with "SOB", while Adele's "Hello" leaps from #26 to #2 in its second week...

Indie-blues artist Leon Bridges came in at #19 last week with "Smooth Sailin'", which climbs to #14 this time out..


Veteran indie-hip-hop/blues band G Love and Special Sauce return to the charts at #26 with "Muse" featuring Citizen Cope...


Singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson moves in at #29 with "Adrenaline"...


Las Vegas modern rock band Imagine Dragons blow in at #30 with "Roots"...
