Rock Sweep: July 18, 2015...


Round two of this week's "music sweeps" is up with the latest hits on rock radio as monitored by Billboard magazine...

On their main Rock Airplay chart, X Ambassadors hold at #1 for a third week with "Renegades"...

Rocketing in at #17 is hard rock band Shinedown with their new track "Cut The Cord". Back in 2010 they topped this chart with "The Crow and the Butterfly"...

ARCS, the new side project from Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, debuts at #44 with "Outta My Mind". The act's first album is due in September...


While modern rock group Walk The Moon's former #1 "Shut Up And Dance" falls to #9, their new single "Different Colors" arrives at #45...


AWOLnation follow up their #4 hit "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" with the song at #48, "I Am"...


and now on to the rock radio format charts....

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Breaking Benjamin remain on top for a ninth week with "Failure", while the aforementioned Shinedown track lands all the way up at #9 in its first frame (they have racked up eight #1 hits on this format)...

California hard-rockers Buckcherry preview their upcoming seventh studio album Rock N Roll with "Bring It On Back" at #40. Their first hit "Lit Up" went to #1 on this chart in 1999...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,  "Renegades" reigns for a fourth week, while the ARCS single is in at #38...

Australian indie-rock band Atlas Genius return at #39 with "Molecules", my "Rock Pick of the Week". Their last two entries both made the top-10, with "Trojans" reaching #4 in 2011...


Indietronica act Joywave arrive at #40 with "Now", the third single from their debut set How Do You Feel Now?. The second, "Somebody New", reached #15...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Beck is at #1 for a second week with "Dreams"...

Good Old War, an indie-folk group from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, makes their debut at #26 with "Tell Me What You Want From Me"...


Death Cab For Cutie went to #1 on this chart with their "Black Sun". Now they're back at #29 with "The Ghosts Of Beverly Drive"...


The last newbie at #30 is indie-soul artist Anderson East with "Satisfy Me"...
