Rock Sweep: July 11, 2015...


Round two of today's five "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest hits on rock radio as monitored by Billboard magazine....

On their main Rock Airplay chart, the X Ambassadors remain at #1 for a second week with "Renegades"...

Hard rock band Disturbed return from a four-year hiatus up at #25 with "The Vengeful One", the first single from their upcoming sixth studio album Immortalized. Back in 2010 they topped this chart with "Another Way To Die"...

Danish pop-punk band New Politics enter at #37 with "West End Kids". It's the second single from their Vikings album. The first, "Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)", made it to #30...


Also with the second release from their current album is modern rock vets Modest Mouse with "The Ground Walks, With Time In A Box". It follows their #2 hit "Lampshades On Fire"...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel Breaking Benjamin are on top for an eighth week with "Failure", while the aforementioned Disturbed track leaps in at #11...

Texan metal band Shattered Sun score their first hit at #38 with "Hope Within Hatred"...


 Christian metal (yes, it's a thing) band Red drop in at #39 with "Darkest Part". The song has already topped the Christian rock chart. In 2008 they peaked at #9 with "Death Of Me"...


Canadian punching-bags Nickelback sneak in at #40 with "Get 'Em Up", the third rock hit from their No Fixed Address album. The first, "Edge Of A Revolution", went to #1 here last year...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the X Ambassadors are on top for a third week...

AWOLnation follow up their #1 hit "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" with the song at #39, "I Am"...


British art-rock act alt-J went to #2 with "Left Hand Free". Now they arrive at #40 with "Hunger Of The Pine"...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or 'hipster rock') format, Beck leaps from #7 to #1 with "Dreams"...

 Brandi Carlile pops in at #30 with "The Eye", my "Rock Pick of the Week"...
