Rock Sweep: June 20, 2015...


Round two of my catch-up "chart sweeps" is up with the latest hits on rock radio as monitored by Billboard magazine...

On its main Rock Airplay chart, Muse hangs tight for a fifth week with "Dead Inside"...

Pop Evil, a hard rock band from Michigan, takes the top debut of the week at #40 with "Footsteps". It's the first single from their upcoming August release Up. Their single "Torn To Pieces" reached #16 on this list a year ago...

Another neo-metal act, Godsmack, is back at #48 with the third single from their 1000hp album, "What's Next". The title track reached #16 last year...


Sublime with Rome take their reggae-rock hit "Wherever You Go" to this chart at #50. It also moves up to #27 on the Alternative Rock list in its third week....


and now on to the rock radio format sub-charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Breaking Benjamin's "Failure" succeeds on top for a fifth week, while the aforementioned Pop Evil track leaps in at #18 (their last album sent three singles to #1 on this chart)...

Alt-metal group Papa Roach follow up their #1 hit "Face Everything And Rise" with the song at #25, "Gravity", which features Maria Brink from metalcore band In This Moment (who are at #28 with "Sex Metal Barbie")...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, "Dead Inside" remains at #1 for a fifth week...

British glam rock band the Struts enter at #36 with "Could Have Been Me". It also moves up to #37 on the main Rock Airplay list in its third week...


Indie-country-rock group Houndmouth cross over to this format with their top-10 Triple-A hit "Sedona"...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Of Monsters and Men rule for a third week with "Crystals"...

Hozier takes the sole debut spot at #28 with "Someone New", the fourth hit on this chart from his self-titled debut, and my "Rock Pick of the Week". He topped the chart with "Take Me To Church" in August of last year...
