Pop Sweep: June 13, 2015...


It's time to kick off the first of today's five "chart sweeps", sampling the songs making their debut on the various charts in Billboard magazine this week. As always, I'll start out on the pop side of things, then later in the day roll out the latest in rock, R&B, country, and dance music. And away we goooooo...

On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of internet streaming, radio airplay, and sales, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth move back to #1 for a seventh non-consecutive week with "See You Again"..

Blasting in all the way at #20 is the new single from Canadian alt-soul artist The Weeknd with "The Hills". It's from his upcoming second studio album Chapter III. His track from 50 Shades Of Grey, "Earned It", is still riding high at #6...

As rapper A$AP Rocky collects his second #1 album with At. Long. Last. A$AP, and two tracks from the record make the Hot 100 this week. First at #62 is "L$D" ...


The other entry of Rocky's at #80 is "Electric Body" featuring Schoolboy Q. His first album produced the #8 Hot 100 hit "F**kin' Problems"...


Another artist with a #1 album this year, Canadian post-Vine star Shawn Mendes, lands at #89 with "Stitches", the third single from his debut Handwritten. The first, "Life of The Party", went to #24...


Country-jam group The Zac Brown Band follow up their top-40 hit "Homegrown" with the song at #90, "Loving You Easy"...


Country rocker Frankie Ballard arrives at #91 with "Young & Crazy", the third single from his Sunshine & Whiskey album. The first, the #1 country hit "Helluva Life", hit #51 on the Hot 100...


Newcomer Chris Janson takes his country hit "Buy Me A Boat" to this list at #92...


Actor/comic/singer Jamie Foxx returns at #93 with "You Changed Me" featuring Chris Brown. It's the first to hit the Hot 100 from his fifth album Hollywood: A Story Of A Dozen Roses. As a lead artist he climbed as high as #2 in 2009 with "Blame It"...


Country singer Michael Ray debuts at #94 with his first hit "Kiss Me In The Morning". He appeared on the TV singing competition The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep in 2012, winning the show...


R&B singer Jeremih is back at #95 with "Planes" featuring J. Cole. It's the second single from his upcoming July release Late Night. The first, "Don't Tell 'Em", went to #6 on the Hot 100 last year...


And now on to the pop radio format charts....

On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel "See You Again" holds on top for a third week...

Country singer Sam Hunt crosses over to pop radio as his former #1 country hit "Take Your Time" comes in at #37...


Singer/songwriter Rachel Platten enters at #38 with her "Fight Song". The single just made the top-10 on the Adult Top-40 list..


British electro-pop group Years & Years slip in at #40 with their exceptional former #1 UK hit "King"...


Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, Walk The Moon remain at #1 for a fourth week with "Shut Up And Dance"...

Sam Smith sends his fourth song to this chart as "Like I Can" moves in at #37. It follows "Lay Me Down", which just drops off the list after peaking at #12, and it's my "Pop Pick of the Week"...


 Indie rock artist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness takes his top-10 rock hit "Cecilia & The Satellite" to this format at #39...


Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") chart, Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" spends a thirteenth week on top...

Taylor Swift's former #1 Hot 100 hit "Bad Blood" comes on pretty quickly to the "old foggie" format at #27...


The aforementioned "Take Your Time" from Sam Hunt pops in here at #28...

and Sheeran's new single "Photograph" lands on the AC list at #29...
