Soul Sweep: May 9, 2015...

We're at the "hump" of today's "chart sweeps", checking out the songs making their way on to the various charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I'm serving up the latest hits on R&B radio...

On their main R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart, the Weeknd remains at #1 for a third week with "Earned It"...

The top new entry on the chart is British singer Sam Smith with "Lay Me Down". It's the third single from his In The Lonely Hour album to make the R&B list; his "Stay With Me" topped out at #10...

Another pop "reverse crossover", "Somebody" from Dutch singer Natalie La Rose with Jeremih, moves in at #48...

Another track from Drake's mixtape If You're Reading This, You're Too Late, "10 Bands", snaps in at #50. His non-album track "How About Now" is still in at #10 in its 26th week...

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B chart, "Uptown Funk!" from Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars is on top for a third week...

Avery Sunshine follows up her former #1 hit "Call My Name" with the single "Sweet Afternoon" at #25...

Soul singer Vivian Green returns at #28 with "Get Right Back To My Baby". Ten years ago she took "Gotta Go Gotta Leave (Tired)" to #5...

Usher finally takes his former R&B/Hip Hop #1 hit "I Don't Mind" with rapper Juicy J to this chart at #30...

Finally, on the Rhythmic format, whose stations add more dance/pop music to their playlists, the aforementioned Weeknd track reigns for a second week...

J. Cole arrives at #31 with "Wet Dreamz", the second single from his #1 album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, and my "Soul Pick of the Week"...

Rapper Kid Ink teams up with newcomer DeJ Loaf at #32 with "Be Real"...

Mixing pros Dillon Francis and DJ Snake pair up at #36 with "Get Low". Snake's track with AlunaGeorge, "You Know You Like It", moves up to #18...

Swedish singer/songwriter Tove Lo is in at #38 with "Talking Body". It's her follow-up to "Habits (Stay High)", which peaked at #8 on this format...

Ne-Yo claims the final new entry at #39 with "Coming With You". His collaboration with Pitbull, "Time Of Our Lives", also drops to #15 after making it to #1 on this chart...

I'll be back in 90 with the latest hits on country radio...
