Pop Sweep: May 16, 2015...

I'm ready to kick off the first of today's five "chart sweeps", checking out the songs making their way on to the various radio and club charts in Billboard magazine this week. As usual, I'll start off on the pop side of things, then later in the day bring out the newest in rock, R&B, country and dance music...

On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of sales (from places like iTunes and Amazon MP3), internet streaming (like Spotify or YouTube), and radio airplay from all formats, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth spend a fourth week at #1 with "See You Again"...

The top new entry of the week at #71 is the third time for teen singer Sawyer Fredericks, as the presumed frontrunner on The Voice is in with his version of the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic "Simple Man". The song has never made the pop chart before, but has sold over a million copies (digitally)...

As Mariah Carey starts her headlining stint in Vegas, her new single "Infinity" lands on the chart at #82. It's from her upcoming collection #1 To Infinity; she's been to #1 eighteen times, most recently in 2008 with "Touch My Body"...

Alt-modern rock duo Twenty One Pilots enter at #87 with the third track from their upcoming album Blurryface, "Stressed Out". All three have come in in the 80s; the last, "Tear In My Heart" landed at #82...

Rapper Chedda Da Connect debuts at #94 with "Flicka Da Wrist"...

Country rocker Brantley Gilbert comes in at #97 with "One Hell Of An Amen". It's the third single from his Just As I Am album; the first, "Bottoms Up", went up to #20 on the Hot 100 last year...

Another country hit arrives right under him as Brad Paisley takes #98 with "Crushin' It". It's also the third single from his album Moonshine In The Trunk. It follows "Perfect Storm", which peaked at #52 on this list...

And now on to the pop radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel, Ellie Goulding remains on top for a third week with "Love Me Like You Do"...

Scottish DJ/producer Calvin Harris lands at #36 with "Pray To God" featuring California sister-rockers HAIM. It's the fourth single from Harris' Motion album to make this chart; the other three all made the top-10...

As Rihanna's "FourFiveSeconds", which peaked at #6 here, drops to #30, her new one, "American Oxygen", climbs in at #38...

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, "Love Me Like You Do" jumps to #1, her first on this chart...

The current Hot 100 leader, "See You Again" from Wiz Khalifa, jumps on to this list at #33. This is his first placing as a lead artist, though he went to #1 on this chart as a guest on Maroon 5's "Payphone"...

Fall Out Boy follow up their top-10 success with "Centuries" with the song at #38, "Uma Thurman"...

Christian-rock band NEEDTOBREATHE return at #40 with "Brother" featuring Gavin DeGraw. It's the group's fourth time on this chart; their last pop hit "Keep Your Eyes Open" went to #37 in 2012. This claims my "Pop Pick of the Week"...

Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart, Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" stays at #1 for a ninth week....

As Meghan Trainor's "Lips Are Movin'" falls to #8 after a high of #5, her latest hit "Dear Future Husband" drops in at #25...

And the 50 Shades Of Grey track "Earned It" from alt-R&B artist The Weeknd sneaks in at #30...

That's it for the start of today's musical trip...I'll be back in 90 minutes with the latest on rock radio...
