Rock Sweep: April 11, 2015...


Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" checking out the latest hits on the Billboard charts is up with the newest songs on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, The Foo Fighter nab their second #1 hit from their Sonic Highways album with "Congregation"...

British modern rock band Muse rocket in at #6 with "Dead Inside", the first promoted radio single from their upcoming Drones album (teaser-track "Psycho" popped on the alternative radio chart last week and drops this one), and my "Rock Pick of the Week"...

Post-grunge group Breaking Benjamin return at #27 with "Failure". They topped this chart back in 2009 with "I Will Not Bow"...


Canadian bro-rockers Theory of a Deadman come in at #48 with "Angel", the third single from their Savages album. The first, "Drown", peaked at #27 here. "Angel" also moves up to #13 on the Mainstream Rock chart...


Americana/indie-rock musician Shakey Graves (aka Alejandro Rose-Garcia) finally takes his top-10 Triple-A hit "Dearly Departed" to this list at #49...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, "Congregation" is on top for a second week, while the aforementioned "Failure" from Breaking Benjamin jumps in at #9 (besides "I Will Not Bow", BB topped this chart with "Breath" in 2007)...

Canadian post-grunge act Three Days Grace are in at #27 with "Human Race", the third single from their just-released Human album (their first with new singer Matt Walst). The first two, "Painkiller" and "I Am Machine", both climbed to #1 here...


The aforementioned "Dead Inside" from Muse enters here at #35...

Upstate New York metalcore goths In This Moment come in at #40 with "Sex Metal Barbie". It follows their #10 hit "Sick Like Me"...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,  Modest Mouse rules for a third week with "Lampshades On Fire", while Muse's "Dead Inside" lands at #11...

British singer/songwriter James Bay arrives on these shores at #38 with "Hold Back The River", which also moves up to #17 on the Triple-A chart...


British neo-metal duo Royal Blood cross over to this format at #39 with "Little Monster" (which is at #20 on the Mainstream Rock list). It's the follow-up to "Figure It Out", which climbed to #10 on this chart...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format,  Mumford & Sons move to #1 in just three weeks with "Believe"...

Newcomer Zella Day from Arizona debuts at #25 with "Hypnotic"...


Brooklyn-based alt-country trio the Lone Bellow enter at #29 with "Take My Love", the second single from their Then Came The Morning album. The first, the title track, made it to #17 here...


The final newbie at #30 is indie-folk musician Rhiannon Giddens with "Black Is The Color". As a member of the New Basement Tapes, she enjoyed a top-10 hit on this list recently with "Kansas City"...
