Pop Sweep: April 18, 2015...

It's time to kick off the first of today's "chart sweeps", checking out the songs making their way on to the various radio, club, and singles charts in Billboard magazine. As usual, I'll start out on the pop side of things, and then later in the day move on to the newest in rock, R&B, country, and dance music...

On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of radio airplay from all formats, sales (from places like iTunes and AmazonMP3), and internet streaming (like Spotify and YouTube), "Uptown Funk!" from Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars spend a fourteenth week at #1, tying for second place for the longest stay on top of the chart. It only has two weeks to match the current recordholder, Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day"...

The highest new entry comes in way down at #77, with L.A.-based "moombahcore" DJ Dillon Francis and French DJ Snake (of "Turn Down For What" fame) with "Get Low". DJ Snake's own "You Know You Like It" with AlunaGeorge also jumps 16 spots to #83. This new single is featuring in the biggest movie in America, Furious 7...

One of the stars of Furious 7, rapper Ludacris, enters at #91 with "Good Lovin'" featuring Miguel. It's the first single from his Ludaversal album. Luda's been to #1 on this chart five times, most recently in 2010 as a featured artist on Taio Cruz's "Break Your Heart"...

Country newcomer Kelsea Ballerini scores her first Hot 100 hit as "Love Me Like You Mean It" comes in at #97...

Rapper Future comes in at #98 with "Commas", his ninth as a lead artist. Although none of those have made the top-40, he climbed to #9 in 2011 as a featured artist on Lil' Wayne's "Love Me"...

And now on to the pop radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel, Maroon 5 land their eighth charttopper with "Sugar"...

Nate Ruess, the lead singer of the modern rock trio fun., moves in at #40 with "Nothing Without Love". Besides his work with his band, Nate topped this chart with P!nk's "Just Give Me A Reason"...

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, Taylor Swift spends a second week on top with "Style"...

As Meghan Trainor's former #3 hit "Lips Are Movin'" drops a notch to #13, her new single "Dear Future Husband arrives at #32...

Dutch singer Natalie La Rose's top-10 Hot 100 hit "Somebody" featuring Jeremih reaches this format at #39...

Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart, Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" is at #1 for a fifth week...

Andy Grammer's infectious "Honey, I'm Good." pops in here at #28. His equally-positive "Keep Your Head Up" went to #15 on this list.

Australian indie-pop band Sheppard cross over here at #29 with "Geronimo", which just made the top-10 on the Adult Top-40 chart...

Another holdover from the Adult-pop list, British singer/songwriter George Ezra's "Budapest", enters here at #30...

(and yes, there's no "pop pick" since either everything worthy already has been picked)

That's all for the first installment of today's musical trip...I'll be back in 90 minutes with the latest on rock radio...
