Album Sweep: March 14, 2015 - Part One...


I'm ready to kick off the first half of today's "album sweep", sampling the records making their way on to the Top Album Sales chart in Billboard magazine. As usual I've included highlighted links to buy any of the new sets along with some of the artists' other major work...

Rapper Big Sean claims his first #1 album as his third studio album Dark Sky Paradise which sold almost 140,000 copies in its first week...

A second album also sells over 100K in its first week as Kid Rock arrives in the runner-up spot with his tenth studio album First Kiss. He's had one #1 release as Rock and Roll Jesus topped the list in 2007...



The collaborative album between singer Chris Brown and rapper Tyga, Fan of a Fan: The Album, lands at #5. It's Brown's seventh top-10 effort (all of his studio albums) and the third for Tyga. The "difficult Brown" topped the chart with back to back releases of F.A.M.E. and Fortune....


Christian metal band Red (yes, that's a thing) ascends to #11 with their fifth effort Of Beauty And Rage. Their last two made the top 10, with 2011's Until We Have Faces peaking at #2...


Pop singer/songwriter Mat Kearney comes in at #13 with his fifth studio set Just Kids. His last, Young Love, made it to #4 in 2011...


Vegas-based metalcore act Falling In Reverse lands at #14 with Just Like You. All three of their album made the top-20 and this has gone the highest so far...


Another metalcore band, All That Remains, arrives at #16 with their seventh release The Order Of Things. In 2010 they climbed to #10 with For We Are Many...


Dubstep kings Skrillex and Diplo come together at #25 with Skrillex & Diplo Present Jack U. Skrillex's album Recess went to #4 last year...


The Sons Of Anarchy: Songs Of Anarchy, Volume 4 soundtrack compilation drives in at #27...


Rob Bailey and the Hustle Standard enter at #28 with Go...
