Rock Sweep: January 24, 2015...






Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest songs making their way on to the rock radio charts in Billboard magazine...

On their main Rock Airplay chart, the Foo Fighters make it an even dozen weeks at #1 with "Something From Nothing"...

The higher of the two debuts this week at #44 is art-rock band alt-J with "Every Other Freckle", the second single from their All Of This Is Yours album. Their last, "Left Hand Free", was their first top-tenner in the U.S. at #5. Their new one also moves up to #27 on the Alternative format in its sixth week...

Australian family-based group Sheppard arrives at #45 with "Geronimo"...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel "Something From Nothing" stays on top for a twelfth week...

Metalcore band All That Remains rock in at #33 with "This Probably Won't End Well", their first hit from their The Order Of Things album. They topped this chart previously with "Stand Up"...


Another metalcore act, Ohio's Beartooth, follow them at #34 with "Beaten In Lips"...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, The Foo Fighters reign for an eighth week...

The sole entry at #36 is the Black Keys with "Weight Of Love", the third radio single from their Turn Blue album. Their first, "Fever", topped this chart last year...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format,  George Ezra's "Budapest" is at #1 for an eighth week...

"Out" lesbian alt-country singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile has the highest debut at #27 with "Wherever Is Your Heart", my "Rock Pick of the Week". She's had two previous top ten hits on this format, with "That Wasn't Me" reaching #4 in 2012...


Alt-rock band Spoon follows up their #1 AAA hit "Do You" with the song at #29, "Inside Out"...
