Pop Sweep: February 7, 2015...


It's time to kick off the first of today's "chart sweeps", checking out the songs making the various charts in Billboard magazine. As usual, I'll start on the pop side of the house, and then later in the day bring out the latest in rock, R&B, country, and dance music. And away we go....

On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of radio airplay from all formats, sales (from the likes of iTunes and Amazonmp3 and such), and internet streaming (like Spotify and YouTube), Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars spend a fourth week at #1 with "Uptown Funk!"...

The top debut of the week with a "rush" release of the new collaboration from Rihanna, Kanye West and Sir Paul McCartney with "Fourfiveseconds", which arrives at #54 after being released only on the 24th. It's Paul's second time in the Hot 100 this year - his "Only One" with Kanye made the top-40 a few weeks back...

Nicki Minaj is in at #71 with "Truffle Butter" featuring Drake and Lil' Wayne, the fifth track from her Pinkprint album to make this chart. Current radio single "Only" is up at #17 after peaking at #12...




American X Factor finalists Fifth Harmony pop in at #82 with "Worth It" featuring rapper Kid Ink (they'll also be coming up a little later here)...


Newcomer Fetty Wap debuts at #86 with "Trap Queen"...


Natalie LaRose also nabs her first Hot 100 hit with "Somebody" featuring Jeremih. It of course cribs from Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"...


As Fall Out Boy land their first top-10 pop hit in eight years with "Centuries", they move in at #96 with "Immortals". It appears on their #1 album American Beauty/American Psycho and the soundtrack to the animated movie Big Hero 6...


R&B singer/songwriter Trey Songz claims the last entry on the Hot 100 at #99 with "Slow Motion". It's from the expanded re-release of his #1 album Trigga...


And now on to the pop radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel "Uptown Funk!" finally jumps to the top spot...

As Nick Jonas' "Jealous" is riding high at #3 (after peaking at #2 for now), stations are rediscovering the single he released before it, as "Chains" comes in at #36...


The aforementioned "FourFiveSeconds" moves in at #37...

And Swedish singer/songwriter Tove Lo enters at #39 with "Talking Body". It follows her breakthrough single "Habits (Stay High)", which topped this format. She also is up at #11 with her collab with Alesso, "Heroes (We Could Be)"...


Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, Taylor Swift remains at #1 for a sixth week with "Blank Space"...

As I said, Fifth Harmony is back on this chart with their crossover hit "Sledgehammer" at #38. The song was their first to make the top-40 on the Hot 100...


Priory, an electropop band from Oregon, land at #39 with "Weekend". The track made the top-20 on the alternative chart...


Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary, or "easy listening" radio chart, Taylor reigns for a ninth week with her older hit "Shake It Off"...

Dutch R&B artist Mr. Probz crosses over to this format at #26 with the Robin Schulz remix of his "Waves"...


Film score composer James Newton Howard makes this chart at #30 with "The Hanging Tree" from The Hunger Games - Mockingjay Part 1 featuring the film's star Jennifer Lawrence...
