Rock Sweep: November 8, 2014...

Round two of my belated "chart sweeps" of the songs making their debut on Billboard's singles charts has the newest songs on rock radio...

On the main aggregate Rock Airplay chart, the Foo Fighters leap from #5 to #1 with "Something From Nothing". It's their fourth leader on this list which began in 2009...

Godsmack comes in at #48 with "Something Different". The track jumps up to #13 on the Mainstream Rock chart; it follows the title track to their 1000hp album, which went to #16 on this list and now holds at #43...

Another top-20 Mainstream Rock hit makes the big rock chart as Pop Evil's "Beautiful". It's #18 on Mainstream Rock. They took "Torn To Pieces" up to #16 here...

...and now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, the Foo Fighters rocket from #16 to #1 with "Something From Nothing". It's their fifth chart-topper at this format, dating back to 2005's "The Best Of You"...

Sixx A.M., the side project of Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, follow up their #12 hit "Gotta Get It Right" with the highest entry on this format, "Stars", at #32...

Canadian bro-rockers Theory Of A Deadman return at #34 with "Savages" featuring Alice Cooper. It's the second single from their Savages album; the first, "Drown", went to #4 here...

After sending both "Guilty All The Same" and "Until It's Gone" to #1 on this chart from their Hunting Party set, Linkin Park land at #36 with "Rebellion" featuring Daron Malakian from System Of A Down...

Minneapolis-based hard rock band New Medicine claim the #40 spot with "One Too Many". Four years ago they went to #31 with "Rich Kids"...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Milky Chance spends a seventh week on top with "Stolen Dance"...

The only song to make its debut this week is Welsh band Catfish and the Bottlemen with "Kathleen". Their debut album The Balcony reached the top-10 in the UK...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, The Black Keys hold at #1 for a second week with "Gotta Get Away"...

The Foo Fighters cross over to this format at #28 with "Something From Nothing". They've only been here once before with "Wheels", which went to #4 in 2009..

Guitar legend Johnny Marr, who originally came to prominence as a member of the British emo-rockers the Smiths, nabs my "Rock Pick Of The Week" and enters at #30 with "Easy Money"...

That's all for the second part of the sweeps...I'll be back with the latest on R&B radio....
