I'm finally back from a weekend away in Virginia, and it's time to start to catch up with the new songs making the official British singles chart released this afternoon...

Ed Sheeran scores his second UK #1 single (after "Sing") with the third single from his latest album, "Thinking Out Loud"...

The top debut of the week at #6 is a remake of the 90s Chris Isaak hit single "Wicked Games" by German DJ/producer Parra for Cuva (aka Nicolas Demuth) featuring singer Ana Naklab. This version is a year old already; the original from Isaak went to #10 in England in 1991...

Scottish DJ/singer/musician Calvin Harris enters at #23 with "Open Wide" featuring rapper Big Sean. It's the fifth track from his upcoming Motion album to make the chart; the first three official singles all went to #1...


American pop/rock hitmakers OneRepublic return at #29 with "I Lived", the fourth British single from their Native album. The second, "Counting Stars", made it to the top...


Dutch DJs Sander van Doorn and Martin Garrix team up with Canadian duo DVBBS and singer Aleesia for "Gold Skies" at #49...


Indie-rock band the 1975, from the western county of Cheshire, are back at #53 with their new single "Medicine". Their debut album sent five singles into the top-100, with "Chocolate" peaking at #19...


Dubstep kings Diplo and Skrillex come together under the moniker Jack Ü to make their way in at #63 with "Take U There", featuring vocals from Canadian singer Kiesza, who has already topped the UK chart with the sublime "Hideaway"...


Singer Alexa Goddard, from Hampshire, comes in at #67 with "So There". Back in 2010 she landed at #20 with a cover of "Turn My Swag On" that was a huge YouTube viral video hit...


Olly Murs, the X Factor UK runner-up from season six, has proved to be one of the most successful acts to emerge from the series, with eleven top-40 hits to his credit so far. He's back at #80 with "Never Been Better", my "Brit Pick of the Week". Don't be fooled by the low entry - it's only from "streaming/YouTube" points since it's not for sale in Britain until November 21...


 The charity single "To Me To You (Bruv)" from British "grime" artist Tinchy Stryder and comedy duo the Chuckle Brothers enters at #92. It benefits the African-Caribbean Leukemia Trust...


The final new entry at #99 is the Taylor Swift 1989 album cut "Blank Space". There's no clip for it...
