Rock Sweep: October 18, 2014...

Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, checking out the songs making the various radio charts in Billboard magazine this week. This time out I've got the latest on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, Milky Chance spends a second week at #1 with "Stolen Dance"....

Flying in at #15 is my "Rock Pick of the Week", "Yellow Flicker Beat" from the soundtrack to the Hunger Games: The Mockingjay - Part 1 franchise film. It's from New Zealand's Lorde, who crashes the seemingly glass ceiling on the rock chart with her Grammy-winning "Royals".....

The other entry at #50 is Danish heavy metal band Volbeat with "Doc Holliday". The track is already up to #17 on the Mainstream Rock chart. It's the fourth single from their excellent Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies album; the first three all made the top-20 on this chart...

...and now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Slash lands his second #1 hit after "You're A Lie" as "World On Fire" jumps to the top...

Canadian post-grunge group Three Days Grace follow-up their first single with new lead singer Matt Waist, "Painkiller", with the song at #27, "I Am Machine"...

Nothing More's first hit single "Ballast", holds at #11, while their next single, "Mr. MTV", drops in at #36...

90s rock hitmakers Live return at #38 with "The Way Around Is Through". It's also their first after original lead singer Ed Kowalczyk left, to be replaced by Chris Shinn. The original lineup topped the chart back in 1995 with "Lightning Crashes"...

Another post-grunge act, Shaman's Harvest from Missouri, are back at #40 with "Dangerous". Five years ago they went to #18 with "Dragonfly"...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,  Milky Chance are on top for a fourth week, while "Yellow Flicker Beat" is the highest debut at #17...

British indie-folk singer/songwriter George Ezra is in at #35 with "Budapest". The song is already in the top-10 on the Triple-A chart, and is a current top-10 pop hit in England...

Another top-10 AAA hit crosses over to this format as U2 drop in at #36 with "The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)". There's no video for this, so Bono can suck it....

British hard rock band Royal Blood also make it to this list with their top-10 Mainstream rock hit "Figure It Out"...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Spoon climb to #1 with "Do You", while Lorde jumps in at #19...

Australian indie-rockers Boy & Bear follow up their #4 hit "Southern Sun" with "Three Headed Woman", which enters at #28...

...and at #29 is former Soul Coughing leader Mike Doughty with "Light Will Keep Your Heart Beating In The Future"...

I'll return in an hour and a half with the latest on R&B radio...rock on!
