Rock Sweep: October 11, 2014...


Round two of today's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest rock songs on the radio as monitored by Billboard magazine.

On their main Rock Airplay chart, German duo Milky Chance nab their first #1 single on the list with "Stolen Dance"...

The top entry at #45 is "All The Rage Back Home" from  New York modern rock act Interpol. It's their first time on the "big" rock chart, though they've had success on alternative radio, where the single is at #27 in its ninth week on the chart.

The song that is right below it on the Alternative list also does the same as it enters the main rock chart as "R U Mine?" from the Arctic Monkeys is in at #46...


Cincinnati indie-rockers Walk The Moon are back at #47 with "Shut Up + Dance", my "Rock Pick of the Week". It's the first single from their upcoming Talking Is Hard album.

Danish modern rock band New Politics enters at #50 with "Everywhere I Go (Kings & Queens)", which also moves up three spots to #29 on the Alternative chart...


and now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel The Pretty Reckless spend a fourth non-consecutive week on top with "Messed Up World"...

Heavy metal vets Godsmack follow up their #1 MR hit "1000hp" with the song at #37, "Something Different"...


Fall Out Boy cross over to the harder-edged mainstream rock format at #38 with their new song "Centuries", which jumps up to #14 on the alternative chart. It's their third time on this chart - they have been as high as #36 with "Sugar, We're Going Down"...


British hard rockers Young Guns return at #39 with the first single from their upcoming album, "I Want Out". The first entry from their last, "Bones", went all the way to #1 here...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Milky Chance is on top for a third week, while the aforementioned Walk the Moon song comes in at #34...

One rung above them is singer/songwriter (Jillian) Banks with her first hit "Beggin For Thread" at #33...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Milky Chance are at #1 for an eighth week...

American Idol eleventh-season winner Phillip Phillips comes in at #29 with "Unpack Your Heart". It follows "Raging Fire", which peaked at #6 on this chart...


Knox Hamilton take the other debut at #30 with "Work It Out", which also moves up to #37 on the Alternative chart...
