Brit Sweep: October 12, 2014...


Hey gang, the end of the week is here, and it's time to check out the songs making the official singles chart in Britain this week, as Meghan Trainor spends a second week on top with "All About That Bass"...

The top debut of the week at #3 belongs to Trinidadian-American rapper Nicki Minaj, who collects her tenth top-10 single in the UK with "Anaconda". She recently got her first #1 with the triple-A-teamed "Bang Bang" with Ariana Grande and Jessie J..

American R&B singer Jeremih takes his top-10 US pop hit "Don't Tell 'Em" to the charts here at #5. It's his first time in the top-10 on these shores...


British singer Ella Henderson follows up her #1 hit "Ghost" with the song at #7, "Glow"...


London-based dance act Luvbug debuts at #13 with "Resonance" featuring vocals from Talay Riley, who also did a cameo on Chipmunk's "Look For Me", which climbed to #7 in 2009...


R&B singer/The Voice US coach Usher's first single from his UR album, "Good Kisser", came in at #10 in this country. Now he is back at #16 with "She Came To Give It To You" featuring Nicki Minaj in a featured rap...


This year's Children In Need charity record and my "Brit Pick of the Week" is a remake of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" arrives at #20. This new and sublime version features Wilson along with a ton of other A-listers including Stevie Wonder, Kylie Minogue, Pharrell Williams, Lorde, Emeli Sande, Chrissie Hynde, One Direction, Sam Smith, Dave Grohl, and Sir Elton John, among others. And the video is seriously the most beautiful piece of art in this medium that I've seen in a while, while the singers and musicians did a most respectable job with my favorite song of all time...


 Former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole's last single "Crazy Stupid Love" went to #1 this year. It's from her upcoming album Only Human, and that set's title track enters this week at #70...


 An act called Kwabs skittles in at #71 with "Walk"...


American rapper Bobby Shmurda pops in at #75 with "Hot N*gga"...


 After the mini-documentary Cilla about British vocal legend Cilla Black caused her version of "Anyone Who Had A Heart" to re-enter the chart, the version from the TV program performed by actress Sheridan Smith joins the party at #80...


Australian heavy metal giants AC/DC are back at #85 with their brand new single "Play Ball". The boys have acrrued 21 top-40 hits in the UK, with a re-release of "Highway To Hell" going to #4 last year...


 The final new entry of the week comes from singer Alex Clare, with the first track from his upcoming album Three Hearts. "War Rages On" makes a quite modest entrance at #98. In 2011 he went to #4 with "Too Close"...
