Aussie Sweep: October 16, 2014...


It's time to head Down Under to check out the songs making their debut on the official singles chart in Australia, as the Veronicas spend a third week at #1 with "You Ruin Me"..

The top debut of the week at #21 is from Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz with "In Your Arms". It's the follow-up to their international smash hit "Am I Wrong", which re-enters the list at #17 this week after appearing on the X Factor. It peaked at #2 in this country...

Two of the three finalists on The X Factor Australia made it into the top-50 this week. First at #26 is Dean Ray with a cover of the Roy Orbison classic "Crying". The original was a #1 hit for him in this country in 1961...


Lorde, from neighboring New Zealand, is back at #33 with her song from the upcoming Hunger Games: The Mockingjay Part 1 movie, "Yellow Flicker Beat". Her breakthrough single "Royals" actually only charted in this country as part of the Love Club EP, which went to #2 here...


The other X Factor Australia finalist to make the chart does it with two selections. Vocal group Brothers3 (the public-voted wild card entry) are here first at #42 with Justice Crew's recent #1 "Que Sera"...


...and at #48 is their cover of the Simon And Garfunkel song "Sound Of Silence", which went to #3 in Australia in the 60s...


The final debut of the week at #50 is "The Days", the first single from Swedish DJ and producer Avicii's second solo album Stories. His first album True spun off five top-40 hits here, with "Wake Me Up" topping the list last year. This new single features vocals from British pop star Robbie Williams...
