Brit Sweep: September 21, 2014...

The weekend is coming to a close, and it's time to check out the songs making their way on to the official singles chart in UK (yes, the unified United Kingdom) this week...

The new #1 song in Britain this week is the second chart-topper for dance act Sigma, who enlists Paloma Faith for "Changing", my "Brit Pick of the Week".  It's Faith's first time at #1; Sigma ruled earlier this year with "Nobody To Love"...

British rapper Professor Green returns at #4 with his latest, "Lullaby", featuring American singer Tori Kelly. It's his fourth top-10 hit - he went to the top back in 2011 with "Read All About It"...

(Since Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" isn't available for sale in this country yet, a "copy cat" version from Power Music Workout debuts at #52, one notch over Trainor's own, which is there from internet streaming points only...)

Indie-pop singer/songwriter James Bay makes his debut at #62 with "Let It Go". It's an original song of his, not a cover of the Frozen song...

Enrique Iglesias drops in at #75 with the "Spanglish" version of "Bailando" featuring Sean Paul...

Londoner singer/songwriter Joel Compass follows up his top-40 hit "Forgive Me" with "Girlfriends" at #82...

American rapper and actor (under his real name Donald Glover) lands at #85 with "3005"...

In the week that saw the Scottish people voting to remain with the United Kingdom, the independence movement's theme, "Caledonia" from Dougie MacLean, pops on to the chart at #87...

The title track from Chris Brown's just-released X album moves in at #91..

Another cover of "All About That Bass", this time from YouTube cover artist Meghan Tonjes, is the final new entry at #97...

That's all for tonight.... cheers!
