Rock Sweep: August 9, 2014...

Round two of this week's "charts sweeps" is up, sampling the songs making their way on to the singles charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I've got the latest hits on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, The Black Keys rule for a twelfth week with "Fever"...

The top debut of the week belongs to indie-rock vets Weezer, as they rocket in at #9 with "Back To The Shack", my "Rock Pick of the Week". They previously went to #3 on this list in 2009-10 with "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To"...

Another indie-rock act that's been around awhile, Spoon, also return at #46 with "Do You". They took "Got Nuffin" to #43 in 2010...

Newcomer Meg Myers makes her debut at #47 with "Desire"...

And now onward to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Seethers holds on at #1 for a fourth week with "Words As Weapons", while the aforementioned "Back To The Shack" is the top debut at #23...

Florida metalcore band A Day To Remember enter at #39 with "End Of Me", the second single from their Common Courtesy album. The first, "Right Back At It Again", went to #36...

Another hardcore rock band, Heartist, also debuts with "Skeletons"...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Jack Antonoff's side-project from fun, Bleachers, climbs to the top with "I Wanna Get Better", while the Weezer track is the sole new entry at #12...

Finally, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Sam Smith stays at #1 for a sixth week with "Stay With Me"...

Indie-rocker chick Jenny Lewis, the lead singer of Rilo Kiley, lands at #26 with "One Of The Guys"...

Counting Crows are back at #28 with their latest, "Scarecrow"...

Producer Max Frost has the final debut of the week at #29 with "White Lies"...

That's it for this installment, I'll return in an hour and a half with the latest on R&B radio...rock on!
