Rock Sweep: August 2, 2014...

Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest songs on Billboard magazine's rock radio charts...

On their main Rock Airplay chart, The Black Keys hold tight at #1 for an eleventh week with "Fever"...

The big debut of the week at #45 is southern rock act J Roddy Walston & The Business with "Take It As It Comes". The single peaked to #25 on the Alternative rock chart. It's the follow-up to their "Heavy Bells", which made it to #28.

As South African indie-rockers KONGOS hold at #2 with their former chart-topper "Come With Me Now", they enter at #50 with its follow-up, "I'm Only Joking", which holds at #32 on the Alternative chart...

And now for the rock radio format charts....

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Seether (another South African rock group) stays on top for a third week with "Words As Weapons"...

Las Vegas hard rock band Otherwise land at #39 with "Darker Side Of The Moon", the first single from their upcoming second album. Back in 2012 they took "I Don't Apologize (1000 Pictures)" to #16 on this list...

Christian metal band Islander ascends to #40 with "Coconut Dracula"....

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the Black Keys stay at #1 for an eleventh week...

The third American single from British modern rock outfit Bastille, "Flaws", arrives at #35. It follows their #2 "Bad Blood", which stays at #7 this week, and it's my "Rock Pick of the Week"...

The aforementioned "Weekend" from Priory is the other new entry at #36...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") radio format, Sam Smith makes it week number five on top with "Stay With Me"...

The sole debut here at #22 is Texan indie-rockers Spoon with "Do You"...

I'll be back in an hour and a half with the newest on R&B radio...rock on!
