Rock Sweep: June 28, 2014...


Round two of today's "chart sweeps" has the latest songs reaching rock radio as monitored by Billboard magazine....

On their main Rock Airplay chart, The Black Keys hold steady at #1 for a sixth week with "Fever"...

The top entry of the week comes from hard rock band Godsmack, whose sixth studio album is due in August. "1000hp" revs in at #31. They have gone as high as #5 on this chart, with "Love-Hate-Sex-Pain" in

Zooming in right behind Godsmack at #32 is melodic hardcore band Rise Against with "I Don't Want To Be Here Anymore", the first single from their upcoming seventh album The Black Market, and my "Rock Pick of the Week". The group peaked at #2 on this chart in 2011 with "Help Is On The Way"...


French indie-folk duo Milky Chance move in at #37 with their worldwide hit "Stolen Dance". The single also jumps up to #22 on the Triple A and #32 on the Alternative Rock formats...


Lana Del Rey sways in at #45 with "West Coast", which also leaps to #18 on the Triple-A chart...


The last debut on the main rock chart at #50 is electro-pop duo Capital Cities with "One Minute More". The song is at #26 on the Alternative/Modern Rock list. It's the follow-up to their breakthrough hit "Safe And Sound", which went to #2 on the "big" rock chart...

 

And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Three Days Grace remain on top for a second week with "Painkiller", while the aforementioned Godsmack and Rise Against tracks leap in at #11 and #28 respectively...

The Pretty Reckless follow up their #1 mainstream rock hit "Heaven Knows" with "Messed Up World" at #32....


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,The Black Keys reign for a sixth week with "Fever", while Rise Against's "I Don't Want To Be Here Anymore" rushes in at #22...

Alt-rock band Young The Giant went to #2 with "It's About Time" from their second album Mind Over Matter, and now they enter at #36 with the title track...


Joywave, the Rochester electronica act that is featured on Big Data's top-10 single "Dangerous", debuts at #37 with "Tongues" featuring KOPPS. The single is also a hit in the clubs, moving up to #31 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, "Fever" is at #1 for its tenth week...

While Jack White is heard on alternative rock stations with the title track to his #1 album Lazaretto, on this format his track "Just One Drink" is the winner at #25...


Lorde arrives at #29 with "Tennis Court", the fourth single from her debut album. It also moves down a notch on the Alternative chart, where it went so far as high as #20, the position it's at this week on the Adult Top-40 pop radio chart...


British singer/songwriter David Gray is back at #30 with "Back In The World", his first single in four years. He went to #1 in this format in 2009 with "Fugitive"...
