German Sweep: June 17, 2014...

I'm ready to cross the border over to Germany to check out the songs making their way on to the official singles chart in Germany this week, as rapper Cro spends a fourth week on top with "Traum"...

The top debut of the week at #22 is American singer Lana Del Rey with "West Coast", the first single from her just-released Ultraviolence album. She topped the chart in this country with her debut single "Video Games"...

Another act with a record coming out today, hard rock band Linkin Park, enter at #24 with "Until It's Gone". It follows "Guilty All The Same", which peaked at #32...

German singer Xavier Naidoo, who also hosts the popular singing show Sing Meinem Song in this country, comes in on his own accord at #49 with "Hört, Hört" ("Hear, Hear")..

The one song from Eurovision that surprisingly didn't make the chart initially in Germany was Spanish entry "Dancing In The Rain" from Ruth Lorenzo, who came in 10th in the contest. Now, though, she leaps in at #54 (one notch above winner Conchita Wurst)...

Dutch trance artist Tiesto dances in at #66 with "Wasted" featuring Matthew Koma. It's the follow-up to his first top-40 hit in Germany, "Red Lights"...

Rappers KC Rebell and Kollegah team up at #82 for "Egoist"...

Veteran rap-rock group Guano Apes drop in at #86 with "Close To The Sun", my "German Pick of the Week". Hailing from the central city of Gottingen, they've racked up five top-10 hits in Germany, with "Kumba Yo!" going to #3 in 2001...

The final new entry at #88 is Australian singer/songwriter Sia with "Chandelier". She's been to the top-ten in this country three times, twice with French DJ David Guetta ("Titanium", "She Wolf"), and once with American rapper Flo Rida ("Wild Ones")...
