French Sweep: May 27, 2014...


It's time to cross the Atlantic yet again to check out the song making the official sales chart in France this week, as Milky Chance holds at #1 for a second week with "Stolen Dance"

The top debut of the week at #18 belongs to a duo that recently competed on France's version of The Voice. Frero Delavega (a moniker built on their two surnames) place their first single on the chart with "Sweet Darling"...

French rapper Joke, from the town of Montpelier, enters the chart this week with three new songs. First at #19 is "Venus", which doesn't have a clip available. His second entry though, does. Here's "Miley" at #23...


...and here's Joke again at #24 with "Sphinx"...


Another rap artist, Niro, is in at #38 with his first top-40 hit in France, "La Mort ou Tchitchi"..


Algerian singer Kenza Farah comes in at #55 with "Problemes" featuring rapper Jul. She's had five top-40 hits in France, with both "Je Me Bats" and "Là où tu vas" reaching #11...


Patrick Fiori, a singer from the city of Marseilles who competed in Eurovision back in 1993 and came in fourth with "Mama Corsica", returns at #59 with "Elles" ("They"), my "French Pick of the Week". He topped the singles chart here in 1998 with "Belle" and again in 2007 with "4 Mots Sur Un Piano". His album Choisir debuts at #2 on the albums chart...


As Milky Chance reigns at #1, another song of theirs, "Down By The River", arrives at #64, as their new album makes that chart at #5...


American heavy metal act Down score their first top-100 single with their EP Down IV - Part 2...


The Black Keys come in 4 on the albums chart with Turn Blue, and from it "Weight Of Love" is in at #84...


Maska, a rapper from the Sexion D'Assaut crew, enters at #89 with "Prie Pour Moi" ("Pray For Me") featuring bandmate Maitre Gims...


The record that does manage to debut at #1 in France this week, Michael Jackson's second posthumous release Xscape, brings three songs to the chart. First at #91 is the title track...


Next up at #93 is Michael's "A Place With No Name"...


The singer who won this season of The Voice in France, Kendji, pops in at #94 with "Amor De Mis Amores"....


Australian boyband 5 Seconds Of Summer land at #97 with "Good Girls"...


The final debut of the week is the third entry from Michael Jackson, "Loving You"...
