Aussie Sweep: May 21, 2014...

I'm ready to head Down Under to check out the songs making their debut on the official singles chart in Australia this week, as the Justice Crew hold tight for a second week at #1 with "Que Sera"...

Another hot Aussie boy-band, 5 Seconds of Summer, score the top two debuts of the week. First off at #12 is "Don't Stop". It's the "official" follow-up to their #1 hit "She Looks So Perfect"...

Meanwhile, a little bit down at #19 are the boys again with "Good Girls"....

As a former British colony, Australia still shares a lot of music with the United Kingdom, and is one of the few places outside Europe that has a major audience for the Eurovision Song Contest. In recognition of this, an Australian perfomer sang on the live semifinals. It was a person not a stranger from singing competitions - Jessica Mauboy was a contestant on Australian Idol that placed runner-up in 2006. Jessica sang "Sea Of Flags" on the Eurovision broadcast, and the single comes in at #40, making it her sixteenth top-40 hit in Australia...(her song comes two minutes into this clip)...Personally, I think it's a great idea to include them, and if Russia carries out their threat to leave, I recommend replacing them with whoever wants (except the US, that'd be kind of unfair)...

American R&B singer Usher returns at #44 with his latest, "Good Kisser". He's topped the Australian chart twice - with "Yeah" and "OMG"...

Dutch trance master Tiesto comes in at #51 with "Wasted" featuring Matthew Koma. It's the follow-up to "Red Lights", which made it to #8 in this country...

American hard rock/rap group Linkin Park are back at #58 with "Until It's Gone". It's from their upcoming album The Hunting Party. The band have reached the top 10 here five times, with both "Numb/Encore" and "New Divide" peaking at #3...

With Eurovision done, although for some reason the winner, Austria's Conchita Wurst, is being held from the chart (they have fucked up rules there), the two runner ups do reach the top-100. First at #66 is the Common Linnets from the Netherlands with "Calm After The Storm", which came in second after Wurst...

Aussie comic YouTube stars the Janoskians enter at #72 with "Real Girls Eat Cake". In 2012 they climbed to #19 with "Set This World On Fire"...

The final debut of the week at #81 is the other Eurovision entry, "Undo" from Swedish singer Sanna Nielsen, who ended up in third place in the contest...
