Rock Sweep: April 26, 2014...

Round two of today's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest songs to make the charts in Billboard magazine. This time I've got the newest songs on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, the Arctic Monkeys are frozen at #1 for a ninth week with "Do I Wanna Know?"...

The top entry of the week is from Canadian musician Mark Kasprzyk, who records under the moniker Redlight King, with "Times Are Hard". It's the second single from his album Irons In The Fire. The first, "Born To Rise", went to #30 here. The new single rises to #17 on the Mainstream Rock chart as well..

British metalcore act Bring Me The Horizon are in at #47 with "Sleepwalking", which also holds at #16 on the Mainstream Rock list. This is their first foray into the big rock chart...

Alternative rock band Grouplove come in at #48 with "Shark Attack", which so far has gone to #20 on the Modern Rock chart. This follows "Ways To Go", which peaked at #8 on this list...

New York indie-pop duo Big Data click in at #49 with "Dangerous", which jumps to #27 on the Modern Rock chart...

...and at #50 is Cage The Elephant, with their second single from their Melophobia album, "Take It Or Leave It". The first, "Come A Little Closer", topped this chart and still stands strong at #5. "Take It..." also moves to #24 on the Modern Rock list...

And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Chevelle moves up to #1 with "Take Out The Gunman". It's now their fourth to reach #1 in this format - they were on top last in 2011 with "Face To The Floor"...

The only new song on this chart is "This Means War" from hard rock group Avenged Sevenfold, which jumps in at #31. It's the third single from their Hail To The King album; the first two, the title track and "Shepherd Of Fire", both topped this format, and this one, my "Rock Pick of the Week", should easily do the same...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,  KONGOS stay on top for a third week with "Come With Me Now"...

The one debut on this chart at #40 is Somekindawonderful with "Reverse". The track also moves up to #39 on the main rock airplay list...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, we have our third #1 in three weeks as the Black Keys climb to the summit with "Fever", and there are no new songs on the chart...

I'll return in an hour and a half with the newest songs on R&B radio...Rock on!
