Rock Sweep: March 29, 2014...






Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, sampling the songs making the radio charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out it's the newest rock songs on the radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart,  Arctic Monkeys spend a fifth week at #1 with "Do I Wanna Know?"...

The sole entry of the week at #47 is from electronic-rock duo Brick + Mortar, from Toms River, New Jersey by way of Asbury Park, with "Locked In A Cage"...

...and now on to the rock radio format charts...

At the Mainstream Rock radio panel, The Pretty Reckless hang tight on top for week number two with "Heaven Knows"...

The top debut at #33 is from Texan alt-hard rock band Nothing More, with "Ballast", their first to make the chart...


British hard rock group the Virginmarys score their second hit at #39 with "Just A Ride". It follows "Dead Man's Shoes", which went to #35 in 2012...


Crosses, the sideproject for Deftones singer Chino Moreno and Far guitarist Shaun Lopez, land at #40 with "The Epilogue". It recently made it to #27 on the Alternative Rock chart...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the Arctic Monkeys remain at #1 for a ninth week...

The top entry up at #28 is the collaboration between neo-metal band Linkin Park with rapper Rakim on "Guilty All The Same". It's the first single from their upcoming sixth album due in June. The single also rockets to #12 on the Mainstream Rock chart and #18 on the main rock airplay list...


New York-based electro-pop duo Big Data arrive at #35 with "Dangerous". Man, is this video freaky...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, U2 take a second week at the top with "Invisible"...

The only entry on this chart this week at #24 is bluesy singer ZZ Ward with "Last Love Song", my "Rock Pick of the Week"
