French Sweep: March 18, 2014...

Bonjour, mes amis, I'm ready to cross the Atlantic to check out the songs making the official sales chart in France this week, as Pharrell enjoys a fourteenth non-consecutive week at #1 with "Happy"...

The top debut of the week, as in many countries, is from British modern rock band Coldplay, with the first single from their upcoming album, "Magic", at #6. It becomes their third top-10 single in France, and only "Paradise" has gone higher, reaching #5 in 2011..

Pharrell's second album G.I.R.L. debuts in the #1 position on the albums sales chart in this country, and six of its tracks besides single "Happy" sell enough on their own to make the top 100 chart. First at #32 is "Gust Of Wind", which features Daft Punk (whom Pharrell sang on their recent album Random Access Memories)...

Next up at #42 is the possible second single "Marilyn Monroe"...

His "Hunter" arrives at #51...

...while "It Girl" drops in at #60...

Pharrell's collab with Justin Timberlake, "Brand New", is in at #63...

...as his duet with Alicia Keys, "Know Who You Are", comes in at #76...

Reaching into the vaults, the David Bowie song "Life On Mars" from 1973's Hunky Dory album finally arrives on the French chart at #85...

Jul scores their second chart hit at #87 with "Dans Ma Paranoia"...

British electronic group Metronomy land at #97 with "I'm Aquarius". In 2011 they took "The Look" to #43 here...

The final entry at #100 is Dutch hip-hop artist Mr. Probz with his recent #1 German hit, "Waves"...

I'll be back later with the latest in Germany...
