Pop Sweep: February 22, 2014....

It's time to kick off the first of today's five "chart sweeps", checking out the songs making the singles charts in Billboard magazine. This time out I've got the latest on the pop charts, then later in the day I'll bring you the newest in rock, R&B, country, and dance music.

On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which tallies sales, airplay, and internet streaming, Katy Perry and Juicy J hang on to #1 for a third week with "Dark Horse"...

In a particularly slow week, the top debut doesn't show up until #80, and it's from newcomer Jhene Aiko, with her first lead-artist hit, "The Worst". She did reach the top-40 last year as a featured artist on rapper B.o.B's "Beware". The song jumps up to #26 on the R&B Airplay chart as well..

Emo-pop singer/songwriter Christina Perri returns at #90 with "Human", the first single from her upcoming second album Head Or Heart. She's had two top-40 hits, with her debut "Jar Of Hearts" going to #17 in 2010. The record already has a head start on adult-top-40 radio, moving up to #19 in its 11th week...

The last entry on the big chart is from country singer Brett Eldredge, with "Beat Of The Music" at #97. It's the follow-up to his breakthrough hit "Don't Ya", which made it to #30.

And now on to the pop radio format charts....

On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel, Katy Perry climbs to the top here with "Dark Horse"...

John Legend, who had a graceful performance on the Grammys, enters the pop radio chart at #37 with "All Of Me". His wife, the amazingly funny Chrissie Teigen, appears in the video with John...

Teen idol Austin Mahone enters at #40 with his flavored-water-pitching "MMM Yeah" featuring Pitbull, because of course...

Meanwhile, over on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, Passenger's "Let Her Go" makes it to #1...

The sole new song on this chart at #35 is indie-rock band Cage The Elephant with their former #1 rock hit "Come A Little Closer"...

Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy-listening") radio chart, Katy Perry's older single "Roar" settles in for a twelfth non-consecutive week on top...

One song makes its debut, and it's by first-season X Factor US runner-up Josh Krajcik with "Let Me Hold You" at #30. It's my "Pop Pick of the Week"...

That's it for the start of this week's musical journey....I'll return in 90 minutes with the latest on rock radio...
