French Sweep: February 25, 2014...


Bonjour, mes amis, it's time again to cross the Atlantic yet again to check out the records making the official top 100 singles chart in France this week, as Pharrell spends an eleventh non-consecutive week at #1 with "Happy"...

The top debut of the week up at #6 is from the French-born international dance music DJ and producing star David Guetta with his rework of the Cher/Nancy Sinatra hit "Shot Me Down" featuring Skylar Grey on vocals. Guetta has topped the charts in his own country twice, with "Gettin' Over You" and "Sweat" with Snoop Dogg..

French singer Indila, whose debut hit "Derniere Danse" rests at #2 this week, arrives at #17 with "Tourner Dans Le Vide" ("Turning in The Vacuum")...


Rapper Kaaris, from the western African nation of the Ivory Coast, scores his first top-40 hit in this country at #26 with "S.E.V.R.A.N."....


Lea Michele, the star of Broadway and Glee, arrives at #47 with her fourth single from her debut album apart from the show to make the chart, "You're Mine"...


New Zealand's Lorde follows up her international mega-smash "Royals", which peaked at #4 in this country, with "Team" at #54...


Trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, who was born in Beirut but now calls Paris home, debuts at #57 with "True Sorry"...


Rapper and actor Disiz follows up his first top 100 hit in seven years, "Rap Genius", with "Burn Out (Sayonara)" at #62...


British dance duo Disclosure arrives on these shores at #70 with "You & Me" with singer Eliza Doolittle. It's their first to make the top half of the chart in this country...


Christine and the Queens nab their first hit at #75 with "Nuit 17 a 52", my "French pick of the Week"...


Somehow Beyonce's older singles are making it on this chart for the first time..A few weeks back she was in with "Love On Top", and now she's at #77 with "Halo"...


The final entry of the week at #96 is Mariah Carey, with the third single from the upcoming The Art Of Letting Go album, "You're Mine (Eternal)". The first, "Beautiful", peaked frustratingly at #41 last year...
