Rock Sweep: January 11, 2014...






Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, with the newest rock songs on the radio charts in Billboard magazine...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, Cage The Elephant spend an eight week on top with "Come A Little Closer"...

The high debut at #46 is the second single from Australian trio Sick Puppies' Connect album, "Gunfight". It's already at #15 on the mainstream rock list...

Canadian indie-rock Grammy-winners Arcade Fire come in at #47 with "Afterlife", the second single from their Reflektor set. The song sits at #29 on Triple-A and #32 on alternative radio...


Another second single is in at #49; this time it's Danish alt-rock group New Politics with their follow-up to "Harlem", "Tonight You're Perfect". The song holds at #27 on the Modern Rock list..


The last entry at #50 is from the California band Airborne Toxic Event. "Hell and Back" is from the soundtrack to the Matthew McConaughey/Jared Leto movie Dallas Buyers Club, and it's my "Rock Pick of the Week"...


And now on to the radio format sub-charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Five Finger Death Punch spend a fourth non-consecutive week at #1 with "Battle Born"...

The sole debut at #39 is from Santa Barbara, California's Beware Of Darkness with "All Who Remain". It follows their top-10 hit "Howl"...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Cage The Elephant hangs tight for an eight week on top...

Electronic rock "supergroup" Crosses (or †††), featuring Deftones lead singer Chino Moreno, is the single debut at #39 with "The Epilogue"...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Bastille's "Pompeii" climbs to #1...

The solitary entry at #30 is "Dirty Paws" from Iceland indie-rock group Of Monsters and Men. It's also at #31 on the Alternative chart...
