Brit Sweep: January 5, 2014...


The end of the first week of the year is upon us, and time to check out the songs just making the top 100 of the official sales chart in the UK this week....

There's only five new entries on the chart due to the post-holiday slump, but one comes in straight at the top. It's Pitbull and Ke$ha with their Avicii-copping folk-rave of "Timber", which becomes Mr Worldwide's third time at #1 (following "Give Me Everything" and his turn on J-Lo's "On The Floor") and the trash-pop queen's third as well after her UK-credited "Right Round" with Flo Rida and her own "We R Who We R"...

Afrobeat artist Fuse ODG from Ghana arrives at #14 with "Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)", his third top-40 hit here. Last year he went to #7 with "Antenna"...


Drum and bass duo Matrix and Futurebound enter at #18 with "Control" featuring Max Marshall. It's also their third top-40 UK hit but their best placing so far, and it's my "Brit Pick of the Week"...


"Do You Want To Build A Snowman", from the animated Disney film Frozen, comes in at #78....


The last entry at #84 is Beyonce with her Challenger-sampling "XO"...
