Rock Sweep: December 28, 2013...

Round two of today's "chart sweeps" is up, sampling the songs making the charts in Billboard magazine, and now I'm up to the latest rock songs on the radio.

On the main Rock Airplay chart, Cage the Elephant spends a sixth week on top with "Come A Little Closer"...

The highest of the two entries at #46 is the fourth single from Las Vegas modern rock band Imagine Dragons' debut album Night Visions, "On Top Of The World"...

The other debut at #50 is the third single from metal band All That Remains' A War You Cannot Win, "What If I Was Nothing"...

...and now onward to the radio format sub-charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Pop Evil claim their second #1 as "Deal With The Devil" follows "Trenches" to the summit...

Neo-metal band Korn follow up their #1 hit "Never Never" with "Spike In My Veins" at #33...(So far there's no video on it)..

The other entry at #37 is cinematic rock group Starset with "My Demons"....

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, "Come A Little Closer" holds tight for a sixth week on top...

New York indie-pop duo Phantogram debut with their first Billboard hit "Fall In Love" at #32..

Fitz and the Tantrums follow up their former #1 "Out Of My League" (which still is strong at #7) with "The Walker", which Ellen Degeneres is using for her Oscar promo. It's my "Rock Pick of the Week" at #34..

The second single from Canadian Grammy-winners Arcade Fire's Reflektor album, "Afterlife", comes in #35. The title track went to #17 a few weeks ago...

Swedish DJ and producer Avicii arrives at #40 with his second dance-folk hybrid, "Hey Brother", featuring Dan Tyminski from the bluegrass group Union Station on vocals...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Passenger is at #1 for a third week with "Let Her Go"...

The Kopecky Family Band went to the top ten on this chart with "Heartbeat". Now they're back at #29 with "Are You Listening"...

The aforementioned Avicii track also debuts at #30...

I'll return in an hour and a half with the latest on R&B radio. Rock on!
