Rock Sweep: December 14, 2013...

Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest songs reaching the singles charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out I've got the newest rock songs on the radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, Cage The Elephant spend a fourth week at #1 with "Come A Little Closer"...

The sole entry this week at #41 is "Holding On For Life" by Broken Bells, which is already up to #29 on the Modern Rock list...

...and now on to the radio format sub-charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel,  Five Finger Death Punch climb to the top with "Battle Born"...

New York hard rock outfit Pretty Reckless, led by actress/singer/mess Taylor Momsen, return at #37 with "Heaven Knows"....

Post-grunge band Smile Empty Soul are also back at #39 with "False Alarm". They went to #8 a decade ago with "Bottom Of A Bottle"...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the aforementioned Cage The Elephant track hangs in for a fourth week on top...

Imagine Dragons return at #36 with "On Top Of The World", the fourth single from their Night Visions album. It follows "Demons" which made it to #2 and now still stands at #6...

The other entry at #40 is A Day To Remember with "Right Back At It Again". It's their fifth top-40 hit on this format - they went to #12 with "All I Want" in 2010...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Passenger rides to the top with "Let Her Go"...

The only debut here at #28 is Sir Paul McCartney with this week's "Rock Pick of the Week", "Queenie Eye"...

That's all for this week's rock newcomers...I'll be back in an hour and a half with the newest R&B hits on the radio...rock on!
