French Sweep: December 10, 2013...

It's time to cross over the Atlantic again to check out the songs making the official top 100 sales chart in France this week, as Pharrell Williams leaps from #10 to #1 with his first solo chart-topper in this country, "Happy" from Despicable Me 2. It's his third appearance at the top this year though after cameos on Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines"...

French rapper Booba's re-release of his sixth album Futur jumps back into the top-10 on the albums chart, and four of its new tracks sell enough on their own to make the singles chart (probably from buyers who had the original album). The top debut of the week at #13 is "Longueur D'avance" ("Ahead") with Maitre Gims...

British grindcore metal band Napalm Death find themselves in the top-40 in this country as "Utilitarian", their 2012 album, is in at #27 I have no idea why this is on the singles chart, as the album is 16 tracks long (I checked their Amazon) and none of the songs are named as such, and it appears at #80 on the albums chart as well. Hmmm...

Booba's second debut at #41 is appropriately "2.0"...

British boyband One Direction claim the second-biggest album of the week with Midnight Memories, and two of its tracks enter as well. First at #42 is "You & I"...

French pop/soul singer Jenifer is in at #43 with "L'air Du Vent" ("The Wind"). It's the French translated version of the song "Colors Of The Wind" from the Disney film Pocahontas. In the first decade of the 2000s she had eight top-ten singles in France...

The third Booba track to debut this week is "Une Vie" ("One Life") at #44...

The other One Direction song making the list is "Don't Forget Where You Belong" at #50...

Lily Allen's current British chart-topping cover of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" arrives on these shores at #52...

Newcomer Ahzee debuts at #64 with the violin dance jam "Born Again"..

Justin Bieber's eighth "Music Mondays" single "Roller Coaster" rolls in at #70...

French singer Indila arrives at #84 with "Derniere Danse" ("Last Dance")...there's no YouTube full clip but here's the teaser and you can listen to the full song by clicking here...

Israeli/French singer Tal also moves into the top-100 at #85 with "Le Passe'" ("The Past"), my "French Pick of the Week"...

The last of the Booba tracks to make their way to the singles chart is "Billets Verts" ("Greenbacks") at #87...

Soul Singer Ben L'Oncle Soul, from the city of Tours, has the final debut at #94 with "Etre un homme comme vous" ("Being A Man Like You"), the French version of The Jungle Book's "I Wanna Be Like You". The man born Benjamin Duterde went to #14 two years ago with "Soulman"...

That's it for this week's musical rendezvous...I'll be back later with the latest in Germany...
