6 of the 60s: 11/13/13 (1969)....

Hey gang, another half-dozen nuggets from the sixties are on their way, and this week I'm back to 1969, the year a group of Native Americans took over Alcatraz Island for over a year and a half to protest tribal conditions...(I've included links to buy anything you see on MP3 or CD if possible)...

The Temptations - "I Can't Get Next To You"

Billboard Hot 100 peak: #1
Songwriters: Barrett Strong, Norman Whitfield

The way that all five Tempts traded off verses like football players is a big part of why this is my favorite song from the legendary vocal group.

The "Tan Canary" showcased his amazing vocal range with this mix of country and blues that Ray Charles set the stage for..

That's it for this week's 60s flashback...Tomorrow I'll have 7 more from 1979 and 8 from 1989...
