Rock Sweep: October 26, 2013...

I'm ready for the second installment of today's "chart sweeps" with the latest songs to make the singles charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I've got the newest on rock radio...

On the aggregate Rock Airplay chart, Lorde racks up an eighth non-consecutive week at #1 with "Royals"...

The top entry at #45 is South African post-grunge band Seether kicking off their Seether 2002-2013 retrospective with, naturally, the song "Seether". It also moves up to #14 on the Mainstream, Active, and Heritage Rock radio panels...

As he leaps into the top-10 on the Triple-A format, English folk-rock singer/songwriter Passenger (Mike Rosenberg) arrives on the main rock chart at #48...

The third and final entry on the "big" rock chart at #49 is hard rock group Shinedown with the fifth single from their latest Amaryllis set, "Adrenaline". The song is top-20 on both the Mainstream and Active rock lists....

And now onward to the individual rock radio format sub-charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Avenged Sevenfold hang in for a tenth week on top with "Hail To The King"...

Coming in at #33 is Christian hard rock outfit Skillet with "Not Gonna Die", which also jumps to #31 on the Active Rock format. The group went to #2 on this chart back in 2010 with "Awake and Alive"...

Another crossover from the Active Rock list, where it's at #30, is experimental metal band the Deftones with "Romantic Dreams". It's the third to make the chart from their current Koi No Yokan album; the other two, "Tempest" and "Swerve City", both made the top-10...

The final entry, which also moves to #36 on Active Rock, is Omaha, Nebraska hard rockers Emphatic with their third hit, "Remember Me", at #40. They went to #23 two years ago with "Bounce"..

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Bastille claims their first week at #1 with "Pompeii"...

Indie-rock duo Twenty One Pilots, from Columbus, Ohio, follow up their top-10 modern rock hit "Holding On To You" with "House Of Gold" at #35. It's my "Rock Pick of the Week"...

J Roddy Walston and the Business, a rock group from Tennessee, debut at #40 with their first to make this chart, "Heavy Bells"....

Over at the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Swedish DJ Avicii scores his first rock #1 with the folk/rave hybrid "Wake Me Up"...

The sole debut here at #25 is last week's #1-holder, Lorde, with her "Team", which also climbs to #22 on the Modern Rock list...

On the harder-edged Active Rock radio panel, the aforementioned "Hail To The King" is on top for a 10th week....

The only entry at #40 is a crossover from the Alternative rock chart, with Australian rock group Tame Impala's "Elephants", which sits at #8 on that format...

Lastly, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock format, "Hail To The King" reigns for an eighth week, and there are no new songs on the tally...

That's all for the rock side of the house...I'll return with the newest on R&B radio. Rock On!
