Rock Sweep: November 2, 2013...

I'm back with round two of today's "chart sweeps" sampling the songs making the charts in Billboard magazine this week, and this time I've got the latest on rock radio...

On the aggregate Rock Airplay chart, another newcomer takes over the top spot as Bastille is at #1 with "Pompeii", their first chart-topper...

The top entry of the week at #44 belongs to Switchfoot with "Who We Are". The single is already at #30 on the modern rock format...

Indie-folk rock group The Head and The Heart debut at #47 with "Shake", which is a top-ten single at Triple-A...

Creed side-project Alter Bridge return at #49 with "Addicted To Pain", which also moves to #14 on the mainstream and heritage rock formats. In 2010 the band, with three members of Creed with vocalist Myles Kennedy, went to #5 with "Isolation"...

...and at #50 is British modern rock outfit the 1975 with "Chocolate", which is top-30 on the alternative list...

...and now on to the rock radio format sub-charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, we also have a new #1 as Three Days Grace climbs in with "Misery Loves My Company". It's their tenth single to top this format chart...

The sole debut on this list comes up at #27, and its from alt-metal group A Perfect Circle, a side project for Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan. "By And Down" is the only new track on their upcoming "greatest hits" set...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,"Pompeii" holds on top for a second week...

Philadelphia-based experimental rock group Man Man drop in at #38 with "Head On"...

The other entry at #39 is The Colourist with "Little Games"...

At the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" dances away at #1 for a second week, and there are no debuts on the chart...

On the harder-edged Active Rock radio panel, the aforementioned "Misery Loves My Company" moves to the top spot, while A Perfect Circle claim the top debut at #24 with "By And Down"..

Arriving at #37 are Australian hard rock group Sick Puppies with the second single from their Connect album, "Gunfight", my , my "Rock Pick of the Week"...

Welsh heavy metal outfit Bullet For My Valentine are back at #38 with "Dirty Little Secret", the third single from their Temper Temper album...

And at #40 is Gemini Syndrome with "Stardust"...

...and lastly, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock format, Avenged Sevenfold still remain at #1 for a ninth week with "Hail To The King"....

The single debut on this chart at #25 is Redlight King with "Born To Rise", which is already in the top-20 on mainstream rock..

That's all for the rockers...I'll return with the newest on R&B radio....rock on!
