Rock Sweep: September 14, 2013...

Part two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, sampling the new songs making the radio charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I've got the latest on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, combining all rock station stats, Lorde reigns at #1 for a third week with "Royals"...

The sole debut on this list, and my "Rock Pick of the Week" overall, is emo-rock group Blue October with "Bleed Out", the first single from their album Sway. It's the band's third hit on the main chart - they went to #2 on the Modern Rock format with "Hate Me" in 2006...

And now on to the radio format sub-charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, "Hail To The King" by Avenged Sevenfold is on top for a fourth week, and there are no debuts on the chart at all...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the aforementioned "Royals" holds tight for a fourth week at #1...

A former "Rock Pick", the Vampire Weekend with "Unbelievers", appears here as the top new entry at #37. It follows their biggest hit on this format to date, "Diane Young", which peaked at #11...

This week's pick, "Bleed Out", arrives here at #38....

...and at #40 is Fall Out Boy with "The Phoenix". It succeeds "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark", which went to #7 earlier this year...

Over at the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Lorde lords over the group for a third week with "Royals"...

The top debut at #24 is "Another Is Waiting" by the Avett Brothers. It's the first single from their upcoming Magpie and the Dandelion album due in October...

British indie-folk singer Mike Rosenberg, who records under the moniker Passenger, takes his worldwide hit "Let Her Go" to this chart at #30...

On the harder-edged Active Rock radio panel the aforementioned Avenged Sevenfold track racks up a fourth week on top....

The sole debut at #40 is Imagine Dragons with their crossover hit "Demons"....

Lastly, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock chart, "Hail To The King" is on top for a second week...

Landing at #24 is Alter Bridge with "Addicted To Pain". It also moves up to #36 on both the mainstream and active rock formats...

The other entry at #25 is Pop Evil with "Deal With The Devil", the followup to "Trenches" which topped this chart. It moves up to #29 on the Mainstream list and a rung lower on Active...

That's it for this installment...I'll return in an hour and a half with the latest on R&B radio. Rock on!
