Aussie Sweep: September 11, 2013...

Good evening, mates, it's time to head Down Under to check out the songs making the official sales chart in Australia, as Katy Perry's "Roar" holds tight for a third week at #1...

As Swedish DJ/producer Avicii's former #1 "Wake Me Up!" hangs in at #4, his next single "You Make Me" already storms in as the big debut at #12...

Miley Cyrus follows up her #4 hit "We Can't Stop" (which drops to #21) with "Wrecking Ball" at #15...

Australian singer Rickie-Lee (Coulter) enters at #28 with "Come And Get In Trouble With Me". She has had five top-10 hits here, with "Can't Touch It" going to #2 in 2007. It's my "Aussie Pick of the Week"...

X Factor is still pulling good ratings numbers here, and the singer with last week's top entry, Dami Im, does the same this week with her take on Prince's "Purple Rain" at #29. It actually does better than the original did in 1984 - the Purple One's version only went to #41...

Avril Lavigne succeeds her #15 hit "Here's To Never Growing Up" with "Rock N Roll" at #45...

Another X Factor finalist, Jiordan Tolli, comes in at #63 with her twist on Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The original went to #4 in 1984, then again in 2009 after his death to #3...

British singer/songwriter James Blunt is in at #67 with "Bonfire Heart". He's had three top-10 hits in Australia, with the biggest (natch) being "You're Beautiful" which hit #2 in 2005...

Bruno Mars' fourth single from his Unorthodox Jukebox set "Gorilla" thumps in at #68...

British/Israeli singer (and fave of mine) Mika is back at #71 with his reworking of that song from Wicked, "The Popular Song" featuring Ariana Grande. He's had four top-10 hits in this country, with "Grace Kelly" reaching #2 in 2007...

Australian indie-pop singer Gossling arrives at #73 with "Never Expire"...

Dance act Peking Duk debuts at #81 with "Feels Like"...

Another EDM act, Krewella from Chicago, are in at #87 with "Live For The Night"...

American pop-punk outfit All Time Low drop in at #93 with "A Love Like War" featuring Vic Fuentes...

The final entry of the week at #98 is British alternative rock group London Grammar with "Wasting My Young Years"...

That's it for tonight...thanks for coming by, and I'll be back with another Song of the Day, 7 of the 70s, and 8 more from the 80s. G'nite!
