French Sweep: August 6, 2013...

I'm ready to cross the Atlantic yet again for this week's "French Sweep" sampling the new music on their official sales charts, as Belgian singer/songwriter Stromae captures the #1 spot with the excellent "Papaoutai", making his second charttopper after "Alors On Danse" in 2009...

The top entry of the week at #12 is British boyband One Direction, who get in with "Best Song Ever". It seems like a modest debut, but already this is their highest-charting single to date in France...

Another English singer, John Newman, takes his recent #1 hit in the UK "Love Me Again" to #66 in this land..

Rap group Psy 4 De La Rime enter at #85 with "Le Temps D'un Instant" ("During the Time"), my "French Pick of the Week"...

Another former British #1, "La La La" by Naughty Boy with Sam Smith, comes in at #87...

French singer Julien Dore', who won the fifth season of Nouvelle Star (their "Idol" franchise), debuts at #89 with "Paris Seychelles", though sorry to say there's no clip to bring you...

Moving on to the French version of The Voice, singer Olympe arrives at #91 with his version of "Desenchantee"...

Lastly, electrodance act Klingande sneak in at #96 with "Jubel"...
