Aussie Sweep: August 21, 2013...

Hey folks, it's time for another trip down under to check out the songs reaching the official sales chart in Australia this week...

There's a new #1 hit here, and it's the second in Australia for American soul/dance/pop singer Jason Derulo with "Talk Dirty". Featuring rapper 2 Chainz, it's a departure from his usual fluffy disco, like his other chart-topper, 2009's "In My Head"...

Thundering in at #3 is Katy Perry with her preview track from her upcoming third album Prism, "Roar". She topped the Aussie charts with the two other lead-off tracks, "I Kissed A Girl" and "California Gurls"...

Lady GaGa is in at #19 with her new one, "Applause". She's gone to #1 three times down under, with "Just Dance", "Poker Face", and "Born This Way"..

British "boyband" the Wanted arrive at #40 with "We Own The Night". They haven't been as big here as in the UK  - three of their four top-40 singles come from their upcoming album, and "Chasing The Sun", their biggest, only made it to #18...

Sydney-based remixing act Bag Raiders get a chart hit of their own at #44 with "Shooting Stars". It's a four-year-old track finally getting noticed..

Uncle Jed debuts at #60 with "Brothers". They're getting notice on Australia's Got Talent...

Disney Channel actress Bridgit Mendler pops in at #82 with "Hurricane". It's the followup to "Ready Or Not", which went to #53 here last year..

The final entry on the chart at #83 is California sister band Haim with "The Wire"...

G'day mates! I'll return tomorrow with another Song of the Day, 7 of the 70s and 8 from the 80s.

I was JUST thinking that Bag Raiders should re-release "Shooting Stars" with the success of "Safe and Sound." Good on them! Maybe they'll push it here in the States as well.
