Album Sweep: July 20, 2013...


Hey gang, it's time for this week's "album sweep" sampling the records making their first appearance on Billboard magazine's Top 200 Albums chart. Since this is a slow week, with only nine debuts, I'll put them all in one post, and as always , I've included links to buy anything you see...

The top-selling record of the week is from R&B/hiphop artist J. Cole, who climbs to the top in his third week with Born Sinner, selling only just over 58,000 copies, though as of now a higher total than same-week debut Yeezus from Kanye West...

The top entry on the chart at #6 is neo-soul singer Joe with his tenth studio album Doubleback: Evolution Of R&B. It's his sixth (and fifth consecutive) to make the top-10. He's reached #2 twice - with 2000's My Name Is Joe and Ain't Nothin' Like Me from 2007...

Christian alternative rock back Relient K arrives at #16 with their seventh set Collapsible Lung. In 2007, their album Five Score and Seven Years Ago went top-10 at #6..

On the other side of the Christian pop spectrum, Hillsong is in at #18 with Live: Glorious Ruins...


Electronica singer/songwriter Derek Smith, who records as Pretty Lights, debuts at #24 with A Color Map Of The Sun.


The trailer-country compilation Mud Digger 4 from Average Joes Record label drives in at #39. It has stuff from Montgomery Gentry, Colt Ford, and more..


California reggae group Iration enters at #75 with Automatic...


Nashville rapper Starlito pops in at #107 with Cold Turkey..

British indie-rockers the 1975 come in at #164 with IV , a four-song EP...


The final entry on the chart at #196 is The Best Of The Commodores: 20th Century Masters The Millenium Collection, an eleven-song greatest hits set from 1999...
