Album Sweep: July 13, 2013 - Part Two...


I'm back with round two of this week's "album sweep" sampling the records spending their first week on Billboard magazine's Top 200 Albums chart. You can check out part one by clicking here, and as before I've included links to buy anything online when possible.

Arriving at #88 is British-born rapper Wrekonize (born Benjamin Miller), who is a member of the fusion group Mayday, with his second solo album The War Within.

The late reggae great Bob Marley's Legend compilation is one of the biggest-selling albums in history, selling over fourteen million copies in the United States alone. Now, Legend Remixed comes on the chart at #89. During his career, he has placed one album in the top-10: 1976's Rastaman Vibration reached #8...



63-year-old Natalie Cole released her first foreign-language album En Espanol, and it enters the chart at #91. Cole topped the albums chart in 1991 with her tribute to her father, Unforgettable...

Alicia Keys makes a humble debut at #108 with her VH1 Storytellers live album. All but one of her regular releases, including her Unplugged set, went to #1 (the other went to #2)...


The Starbucks exclusive Big Waves: Five Decades Of Surf Rock drifts in at #116. It includes selections from the Beach Boys, Duane Eddy the Ventures, and more...


Ohio rockers Hawthorne Heights are in at #118 with their fifth full-length album Zero. Back in 2006, their sophomore set If Only You Were Lonely went all the way to #3...

Denver-based Thrash metal band Havok are in at #186 with their third album Unnatural Selection...


Another Starbucks compilation Songs Of The Siren, with tracks from Feist, Cat Power, and Beth Orton...


Maryland reggae fusion band Ballyhoo! jump in at #189 with Pineapple Grenade! ....


Chicago indie-rockers Smith Westerns come in at #194 with their third album Soft Will. Their last, Dye It Blonde, peaked at #114 two years ago...


That will do for the second half of the new crop...out of these sixteen the three I'd go with first are the Songs of the Siren, Smith Westerns, and Ballyhoo! albums...
