Soul Sweep: July 6, 2013...

Hey gang, I'm up to the 'hump' of this week's "chart sweeps" sampling the new records making the weekly charts in Billboard magazine. This time out I'm up to the latest on R&B radio...

On the main R&B/HipHop Airplay chart, J. Cole takes over the top spot with "Power Trip". It's his first #1 hit here...He also has reason to celebrate since his "Crooked Smile" featuring TLC is the top debut at #39. It's TLC's first time on the chart since 2004's "Come Get Some" from their greatest hits set...this new one is my "Soul Pick of the Week" ...(NSFW)

2 Chainz also arrives at #46 as a lead artist with "Feds Are Watching" featuring Pharrell (Williams)...(NSFW)

The last debut at #48 are the "Hustle Gang" featuring rappers T.I., Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B and Kris Stephens with "Memories Back Then"...(NSFW)

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B format, Miguel unbelievably reclaims the #1 spot for a 17th nonconsecutive week with "Adorn"...

The top entry at #34 is singer JoiStarr who didn't make it on the blind auditions of last season's Voice with "Seven Sevens"...

...Miguel adds to his #1 placing as "How Many Drinks" comes in at #37 with "How Many Drinks"...

The last entry at #39 is Ciara, proving the increasing hiphop influence on the adult chart with "Body Party"...

That's it for the soul side of the house...I'll return with the newest on country radio...Groove on!
